hi darryl,

is there any good reason why i can't put a couple of drops of transtint dye in the unibond 800 as i'm mixing it? i am doing some really rich walnut burl, and even the dark hardener isn't dark enough.

any issues?

thanks.

As long as its water or alcohol based and not oil based your fine to use it. If you want to be extra safe, mix up a small batch of Unibond 800, tint it, pour some in a baggie, and see if it catalizes. It doesnt have to get fully hard to complete the test, just that you can see its thickening. Probably a couple of hours. Make sure your room temp is above 70 degrees.

darryl, just to close the loop on this, i did a batch tonight significantly darkened with transtint, and it seemed to work brilliantly. i'm doing a walnut burl kitchen, and with dark walnut transtint, the minimal bleedthrough i get looks like dark knots. perfect!

Glad to hear it was successful.
