Bobby:

Until you find a neighbor, . . .
There are many areas within "veneering" depending on your interest - 4x8 sheets of "paperbacked" and wood on wood (WOW); laying up paperbacked equivalent by joining raw veneer leaves into sheets using slip, bookmatch, and their variations; decorative matches such as diamond and rev diamond, box and rev box, starburst; and marquetry and parquetry.

If your interest extends beyond using paperbacked and WOW, I'd strongly suggest investing in all the videos by Darry Keil here and Paul Schurch. There is some overlap between the two authors but not too much, and there is so much content that annual viewing is worthwhile.

And think long and hard before using PVA and similar adhesives for raw vemeer. Same for contact adhesives.

Bobby,

I must agree with Don. The videos from Darryl and Paul are excellent. There is a lot of information from both gentlemen in their works.

Good luck and enjoy!

Charles

Bobby,

Sounds like your in the education phase of learning about vacuum veneering. Working with veneer offers some wonderful options and design possibilities that are a lot of fun to incorporate into your work. I think you will really enjoy the process of learning how to work with veneer and what you can do with. I wish you the best as you explore the world of veneering
