Frank,

I would not be inclined to attempt this with a vacuum press. You are really edge gluing here. I would make a male plug with a sheet of gum rubber in between and clamp it. Make sure you double ply it as you need a backer veneer to cover the multiple layers of plywood you are veneering over. If you don't, the face veneer will most likely develop cracks at the joints where the plywood underneath is glue together.

Thank you Darryl & Graig!
GF20 & gum rubber sheet are on order. Craig - did you do that drawing specifically for my posting?! VERY impressive either way.
Darryl - I attended your presentation at Furniture Society meeting @ MIT last year and was encouraged to do the compound bag veneering of a 1969 Mercedes 280SE dashbow shown in the attached photo. Thanks for that as well
Frank

Yes sir that's all easy clamp work. you will want to line the outside of the male forms with something like cork or what Darryl suggested. the drawing shows the veneer in two pieces but that would be two plied prior to clamping of course

photo attached.

yes sir. your post. once the bar clamp was designed it was just a simple cloning step. your base was pretty simple. I hope you didn't throw the cut outs away.

hi craig (no caps - cat on lap) - fortunately did save cutoffs (learning - slowly). did you use "sketchup"?
