I need just a small amount of unibond. I was wondering if there are any local suppliers that carry it?
Is there an alternative type glue to use on a cylnder?

Ray,

You can get Unibond in Seattle and Atlanta, other than that you would have to order it direct.

Before I can suggest an alternative glue I need more information about your cylinder.

Darryl,

This if for a small drum, 6" x 14" diameter. Maple drum with a paper backed cherry veneer.

I feel comfortable with using the unibond, a lot of people use pva glue. I don't think the pva will work in the longevity of a drum.

I do have about a 1/2 gallon of unibond, about 14 moths old. I have kept in my garage I live in Oklahoma, fairly warm garage. The consistancy pours like maple syrup, far from honey. I don't fell real comfotable about using it, since this drum is not for me. I am surprised on how thinly it still pours.

I do not plan on doing any veneering for a while, and anything I buy now will just be wasted. Is there an epoxy or other type glue that works as easily as unibond 800? or is this old unibond still usable? Thanks!!

Ray,

Your Unibond 800 is really OK. If it pours like maple syrup its still good. For safety sake do a sample glue up on a scrap. If 24hrs later the bond is solid your good to go.

If you really dont want to use it no matter what, I would go with polyurethane glue as an alternative. Be aware you use much less of this glue.

Sincerely

Rex,

Ask the folks at Edensaw Woods in Seattle if they will do it. I completely forgot to mention this over the phone. Their number is 360-385-7878

Sincerely
Darryl Keil
