dude, the concept is easy, you have seven plys, canadian rock maple is most common, and rather easy to come by, when it comes to wood placment i recommened crossing grains,,one ply grain running lengthwise and next running width wise and so on and so forth, as for glue, stronger the better, at the same point something that can be spread in a thin layer(helps prevent delamination)..i use fish glue..stuffs amazing..strong as ****..then you need a board press..two blocks or one big block split down the middle, the bottom block needs to contoured to the shape of the board and the top block needs to have its bottom contured, not as easy as it sounds..unless you plan to make a board with no concave..so the blocks have to be contoured both lengthwise and widthwise, after contouring the blocks,fit the blocks together to make sure they match, ..and from here its rather simple, some people glue all the layers and then press them, i prefer to glue two layers press them add another layer press and so on..the reason i do this isif you press them all at once..due to the thickness its more likely to cause stress cracks, as for the actual pressing..well they way i did it was like this, i made the blocks 3 inches wider then needed..then at each corner two more along each side and one more at each end..in these points i drilled pilot holes the holes are for half inch wide threaded metal bars, i put the glued plys in, place on top block, insert bars and then going from side to side bar i place a 2 inch wide and 2 inch think oak pieces, which have wholes for the bars drilled in them also i put these on top and bottom..and these wooden pieces are then tightened down with aircraft type bolts..keep in mind to tighten them down a bit at a time to keep even pressure, and then i put on the oak pieces running from tip to tip(top and bottom..tightening them down in the same way..and then let them dry, they way i do it takes alot longer..but trust me its worth it, all my friends buy their boards from me now, because they have great flex and last forever..mind you ply wise i do mine a bit differnt i only use 4 plys of wood, two thin plys of fiberglass sheeting (for strength and flex thats 6 plys and for my center 7th ply i use a thin sheet of aluminum, due to the reduced wood plys i can due this without making them too heavy..like i said all my friends buy their boards from me..and i can now afford to expand..soon(within months have my own company.) ya i know i am giving away my sercret..but i due it because i was tired of getting ripped off,,buying boards and having them break a week later..and of course there is no return policy because they don't know how you broke it..all they care is about money, i am making boards with that in mind..made by skaters for skaters and money has nothing to due with it..as long as i break even i don't care..as it only started as a hobby and student..i am a full time advertising student and this was a project for school..needless to say..i am passing with flying colors..hope this helped : I need info on how to make the boards and where I could get the best price deal on a press.
