Its been a while since I been on this forum, but I am finally back to some veneer work. While re-organizing my workspace I started thinking about one of the flat press tables. I was wondering if anyone has built one that attaches to a wall so when it is not in use it can be folded up out of the way? Care to share a pic if you do?

Thanks
Brad

Brad,

Yes, I know a number of folks who have mounted their frame table press to the wall. Just screw a couple of 2x4's to the wall to block it out a little, then hinge the table to the this blocking. You can make the front legs fold down or have them in a removable socket.

Thanks Darryl. I would like mine to fold up. That way I can have a work table under that I do not have to move a lot. Does the aluminum extrusion company you deal with have hinges? I deal with one out of Germany that has all sorts of ideas that one can use to make different devices.

Brad,

You can use regular door butt hinges as you would attach the wall mounting hinges to the table base not the aluminum extrusion itself.

I know butt hinges would work, but they are not quite pretty enough.

Thanks

Darryl, I was wondering if you have ever thought about turning one of your aluminum frame presses into the ultimate veneering station? If you made one of these into a flip top with a secondary table below you could add a linear bearing on one or both sides that could be used to attach a saw or router for cutting. I have even added linear digital scales and digital angle readouts using these aluminum extrusions. You could even pressurize the extrusions with air so you could offer air clamping system at all those intermediate supports. Just an idea that was running in my head.
