Subject : veneer over veneer?

I've done some work that has two faces that show. One face looks great, I' not happy with the other side. Would it be sensible to veneer over the "B" side? This is on 1" MDF, and it is lac finished. Obviously I'd have to strip the lac. Anybody ever tried such a thing?
Thanks.

Richard:
What's the length and width of the panel? Is the panel restrained from warping by a surrounding frame or something similar? How thick are the veneers? Finally, what adhesive was used to glue the two veneers? The primary concern would be that gluing a 2nd layer of veneer on one side will create stresses that may be strong enough to warp the panel.

Hmmm... good point. the largest panel is some 24"x36". These are free floating panels, and are not in any sort of framework, just edgebanded. I guess one other consideration would be grain direction. Thanks for your input. Maybe I should just start over.

Hey Don, One more thing... I have discovered a tool that has become indespensible in my shop for my veneer work, and that is the Fein Multimaster. That thing will cut veneer beautifully. I made a little "saw base" for it, that I can use to straight line. I've cut sunbursts at 15 degrees right down to the finest point. Try it!!!

Richard:
1" MDF should be pretty darn stiff. I'd be inclined to slap another layer on the B side and see what happens before I'd scrap and start over.
Multimaster? Wouldn't have believed it. But I'll stick to veneer saw and "Schurch" chisel methods I think. Glad it worked out well.

Richard,
You touched on a topic that seems interesting, i.e. the Fein Multmaster.
I never thought of trying that, what blade or saw did you use with it.
Good luck on the veneering, I would also think that a thicker MDF would
be OK to try another level of veneer.
Larry
