Subject : veneering irregular surface

I am trying to veneer an irregularly curved surface with no corresponding form to support it the piece is 3/4" thick and will need to be veneered both sides. Is this something that can be done without a platen?

Can you massage a piece of veneer to follow the surface? How large is it?

The surface is about 24" x 36" and is a wavy concave/convex shape. I think I will be able to massage the veneer into contact, but I would like to avoid
making a form.

As long as you use some form of a bleeder fabric or netting to get the air down to the exit hole you dont need a platen.

If you don't already have it, I'd suggest Darryl's second video on working with curves, and one or two trial runs without glue. Hope it works out well.
