Hi,

I was fortunate enough (I think) to pick up one of your pumps this evening. I'm told it was 'never used'. When I turn it on in clamping mode it runs fine. When I turn it to the mode for vacuum press, the red light goes on on the switch, but nothing happens.

Thanks for any help you can offer. Looking forward to getting into this,

Jim

A complete guess, Jim, but in vacuum mode the pump probably is looking to maintain the pre-set vacuum level (I haven't been so fortunate, and thus have to use a cobbled together system, you lucky so-and-so). If you can find a vacuum dial, try changing the setting and see if the pump cycles on and off. You can use a piece of stiff rubber or similar to cap off the vacuum line during this testing. The pump will cycle off when it reaches the set vacuum level, and then cycle back on when the vacuum drops probably 3-4 psi.

If you are ready to give up, and willing to pay shipping, I'll grudgingly take it off your hands (grin, grin).

Jim,

I'm guessing you just need to perform a simple vacuum switch adjustment. I suggest you give me a call on Monday and we can sort it out in a few minutes. Have the press in front of you, plugged in when you call. Ph# 207-275-0935

For those that might be interested in what the problem was, it was only a vacuum switch that was turned down so low it wouldn't even come on at no vacuum.
