I am planning on making a guitar using laminated sides back and top. How would you recommend forming the sides using a vacuum system? thank you very much

A luthier might dispute this, but I imagine that you could make a thick form out of a material such as building insulation (ala Celotex) and use that.: I am planning on making a guitar using laminated sides back and top. : How would you recommend forming the sides using a vacuum system? : thank you very much

You could make a form by bandsawing MDF to the exact shape minus the thickness of the side material you are using, when it is perfect, glue another piece of MDF to it and flush trim with a router to the origional shape.Try steam bending solid material though, you will be much happier with the results. Low line multiply Japanese and Korean guitars are good for rowing a boat with. Trust me. I have made musical instruments for years.If you have any Questions E-mail me.Good luckTim Taylor
