Dear Vinay,Ditto to Dan's answer, always veneer both sides. Two things can happen, first, as the gluedries, it shrinks to some extent tightening and pulling the veneer on that side, if you dont havethe same pull on the other side to balance this out, the panel warps. Second, seasonal humiditychanges will penetrate the panel differently from both sides since one has the additional barrierof glue and veneer that the other side does not. This will also cause warping. Also the veneerto some extent itself, tries to expand and contract with humidity changes, this too will effectpanel stability. It also depends to some extent how the finished panel will be used. If its aside panel in a solid frame, I may be able to tolerate some warping, but if its a free swinginginset door I cant afford any movement. All in all, no matter what the panel will be used forI dont take chances, I always veneer both sides.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Will 3/4" mdf warp if veneered on only one side?

A little more information on my application. I want to veneer 8" x 48" panels which form the sides of a speaker cabinet. The speaker cabinet is braced on the inside. Since the cabinet has already been assembled I cannot veneer the inside. Given the small surface area and internal bracing will the 3/4" MDF still warp?

Dear Vinay,Given the situation, I think you will be OK. The panels are fairly small, it braced on the insideand even if it did warp a little you probably wont even notice. With the additional informationyou gave, I say go for it.: A little more information on my application. I want to veneer 8" x 48" : panels which form the sides of a speaker cabinet. The speaker cabinet : is braced on the inside. Since the cabinet has already been assembled : I cannot veneer the inside. Given the small surface area and internal : bracing will the 3/4" MDF still warp?

: Will 3/4" mdf warp if veneered on only one side? ALWAYS veneer both sides of a panel. It is not nessessary to use the same species. When I'm doing a job that has a dark face veneer I usually use a mahogany backer. On lighter woods I use anigre or maple
