I am using Unibond and I am having problems cleaning up. I throw the roller out, the plastic tray is also thrown out but my plastic drill mixer has to be washed as well as the plastic mixing bowl. I am using warm water and soap. The unibond doesn't come off easily and clumps up. Since I am redoing my bathrooms the only sink in the house now is the kitchen sink. My girl friend is having fits with me cleaning up in her sink. Has anyone found an easy way to clean up after using Unibond.
Thanks, John

Since no one responded to my question the only way, I found, to keep my girl friend happy is to thoroughly wipe the drill mixer and mixing pale with paper towels so there is practically no Unibond and then use hot soapy water to get the things completely free of glue.

I keep a pail of clean water at least as deep as the mixer is tall. As soon as mixing of the glue is finished, run the mixer both forward and reverse in the water for 30-60 seconds. That's all the clean up I have to do and I use a whisk or beater from a kitchen mixer (don't worry, I bought an extra set of the beaters).

Let the water sit for an hour and the glue will form soft clumps in the bottom of the pail. Pour the water down the drain and the clumps in the garbage can - don't want glue buildup in the drain line.

When Unibond 800 reaches the point where it does not clean up well with water, or soap and water, use some denatured alcohol. Also, consider using a flexible mixing bowl like a yogurt container. Let the excess glue harden and pop it out the next day.

A variation on Don's cleaning bucket is to keep a 5 gallon pail just for Unibond clean up. Do ALL your washing in the pail and let the glue settle to the bottom. Then you'd never be using your girlfriends sink.

Last Friday at a local restaurant supply store I bought 75 32 ounce plastic "deli" cups for just over $12. Couldn't find cardboard, but I expect similar environmental impact from making cardboard and plastic cups. A lot of water and water treatment plant operation is saved by simply throwing the cup away after mixing and using the glue.
