Description of issue: A 16" x 16" curved panel (15" radius). The core is three pieces of .1" thick cherry running horizontal across the curve. The two face pieces are .15" BE maple running vertical along the curve. The seams are tight at all edges but thick (.013-.015", and in some cases open, in the central part of the panel. (the panel is pierced so this is revealed)It is as if the glue is being "trapped" as it is pulling down and unable to escape. We are using vacu-net on top of the panel.

I am assuming you are doing this in a bag. The way the bag pulls down around thin laminations can do this. Next time place a couple layers of 3/8" bending ply on top of the laminations which will prevent this problem. If the form is not in the bag with the laminations then put the bending ply on both sides. Dont use 1/8" bending ply as it will flex to easily and not give you the rigidity you are looking for across the laminations Hope this makes sense..

Yes, this is in the vacuum bag. Excellent suggestion. I will give this a try. My concern is that my laminations are too thick but I may try one more time as you suggest. Do you recommend the unibond 800 for this application? (it is what we were using)

I dont think the Unibond 800 is a must but for bent laminations its what I go to when I want the least spring back and best bond as well as some gap filling ability, if needed.

Sometimes if I feel the wood core is resisting too much I might do the core first & the face veneers the second time around. I personally would use titebond original 'extend'. When you take it out of the bag you may have to put it between 2 stops until it is completely cured & to avoid creep.
