I'd like to share some success that I'm having after following a few of Darryl's suggestions. I think the most important is using blocker. In the past the Unibond would bleed through the cherry veneer and create its normal problems. The blocker virtually stops it. In addition, I tried a few other sugeestions that I read in various posts; 1) using a foam roller to apply the glue and 2) reducing the vacuum to ~ 15 psi.

Essentially, Unibond can sometimes have issues with bleed through at seams. The blocker minimizes this.

A small point, but seams are not the only place where bleed-through can stain wood. Several years ago I had to press another headboard panel of walnut veneer because there were yellow stains everywhere due to bleedthrough.
