Hi there,
I press all my veneer one face at a time, face down, on a MDF platern covered with plastic.
This works fine, however after a while the plastic tears from the corner of a panel or something.
I thought about melemine, however glue still sticks to this sometimes.
Does anyone have a great idea what else I could use instead of this that glue will not stick to?
I am using it in a lift up top table press 9' x 4'.

Thanks,

Anton Gerner

Anton,

I spray my melamine with "Topcoat" It's a spray for saw table tops to keep them slick. Never had any problems with finishing. Wax will do the same but the spray is faster.

Gosh, I use melamine and the glue doesn't seem to stick. At least not so much that a razor scraper won't pop it right off. I use paste wax on a laminate covered work surface and it cleans right off with very little scraping effort.

I would think a real delux surface would be a sheet of polished laminate.

Thanks for the replies.

Do you mean you wax the melamine?

It is just that mine is a large surface area and difficult to reach the other side as it is against the wall. Maybe The glue would blow off with the air gun?

Anton,
Laminate a sheet of 10 mil vinyl to your MDF panel and you will have a permanent no stick surface with no maintenace required.. You can purchase the material from any supplier for automobile seat covers. After sanding it adhers with contact cement.
