Does anyone know of a source for columns that can be veneered? I'd be interested in knowing sources for both round and oval columns if any exist. Thanks.

Don,

Try Roberts plywood. They have lots of quarter and half radius plywood as well cylinder but no ovals. I dont know if anyone does ovals.

Thank you for the prompt reply, as always with good information.

I can visualize how to build oval forms using either 3/4" plywood or 2" styrofoam, but can you provide any guidance on pressing 1/8" plywood on such a form to make a smooth, closed oval with minimal seam?

Don,

I think making complete round ovals and cylinders is very difficult as each layer has a slightly different circumference to get the return seams tight. I would make two haves and spline them together, much easier.

Great solution that I would not have stumbled on. Don't know if the client really wants to pay for an oval column, but now it is theoretically possible. Thanks Darryl.
