If you are looking for outstanding marquetry work, this set of 3 books cover museum pieces. Written by Pierre Ramond. Numerous traced drawings of the original pieces lets you basically enlarge to whatever scale to adapt to your projects. I bought the equivalent books in french while in Paris before I found out that this set was available. Cheaper too is $ than Euro's ( Paid about 300 euros). Note that french edition is larger though: about 10" by 14" pages.

That set of books is definitely a must-have.

Actually, when I was looking for it, I shopped around for quite a while for the best price.

And believe it or not, I found that of all places, Wal-Mart had the best price at $280. I found this through the online store, not my local retail place.

Amazon.com: $230.66 It's still a little steep for my 'book' budget. Looks fantastic, though.

I found that the book "Marquetry" (Getty Trust Publications: J. Paul Getty Museum) by Jacqueline Derenne, Claire Emili, Brian Considine, and Pierre Ramond (Hardcover - Mar 20, 2003)to be a more informative book from the "How Too's" point of view. It is also by Pierre Raymond but is not part of the 3 book Masterpiece series which is great for ideas. It has the same size and quality of the Masterpiece series and is now only $47.50 (new book price) at Amazon.com. I have all four books but if I could only afford one it would be "Marquetry". It is a fabulous book! Besides, at $47.50 how can you go wrong?

Dave
