I have currently started using Alpiwood veneer.
We stain a light Oak Alpiwood veneer with a water based pigmented stain in three types of colour a light Oak, medium and dark Oak version by hand, then overcoat with a waterbased sealer and waterbased topcoat this is applied automatically.I am having problems stablising the finished colour, the wood itself seems to vary in the raw colour from a yellow through to pink, it also seems to vary tremendously in porosity, are there any fules with this type of veneer as to what you should or should not do? I am led to believe that colour consistancy should not be a problem.
I would be grateful if anyone has had experience of this material in fairly high volume production situations.

Don't have any experience with this product, but on a related note when production manufacturers finish wood they typically bleach and then have a standard six or seven step coloring process to establish uniformity. The end result always matches, but there is so much color applied the wood itself is essentially no longer visible.

Contact the manufacturer of the veneer directly to get their input, as another option.

I am aware the Alpi veneer is bleeched and pre dyed etc, but we are suffering at least two versions of colouring of the raw material, one is a yellowish tint and the other a pinkish tint, because we are staining and lacquering this material in three various wood shades in a light wood a medium and a dark, the problem is these tints in the raw material effect the final colours and make it very difficult to guarantee continuity. but thanks for the reply

You might post your question on Jeff Jewitt's finishing forum at wwww.homesteadfinishing.com. Jeff has always been very quick to help and has a vast knowledge and experience base.
