Finally my veneer cutting jig for my Altendorf Panel Saw is finished!!
I works really really well. The jig sits on the sliding table and is operated by 4 pneumatic cyclinders which are attached to two beams that come down and clamp the veneer REALLY flat.
Although this is a simple jig to make it did cost quite a lot to purchase all the bits and pieces.
I have posted the photos here: www.antongerner.com.au/veneerjig
I have more pictures if you would like to see them, email me at anton@antongerner.com.au

What saw blade are you using?

Is there a non skid surface on the bar, rubber, sand paper etc?

Thanks Ron in mass

Hi Ron,
No the bar is plain MDF and it works fine. There is huge pressure on this thing!
My next improvement is to inlay some rulars into the table to make it easier to line up your veneer when cutting a bundle of veneer to width.

Regards,

I have made prototype of a portable highly accurate veneer saw with trimming head for the small to medium size shop. I am investigating marketability to the vac bag market(and beyond) particularly for people who do not have 8 -12' ft panel saw and attachment.

Dedicated commercial travelling head veneer saws start at around 18,000 and long bed guillotines alot more.

This unit would a easily be 2/3rd less.
