I am looking for advice for applying veneer to a long countertop (12'-14'). I cannot remove the counter so a vac. press is out. Additionally, since it backs to a wall, clamping is also very limited. Does anyone have suggestions? The veneer is an unbacked bubinga so I prefer no contact cement - but realize that my options are very limited. Thanks for any input on this (seemingly) very difficult issue.

The only way I can think of veneering this would be to have the veneer pressed onto thin ply, then attach this with contact on site. Should work OK

Thanks for the idea. I am not aware of anyone offering that service where I am, but I will look. I am considering heat lock as a last resort (tons of tedious ironing). Any thoughts.

This might sound kind of crazy but could you use a big heavy caul and then using spreader clamps between the caul board and the ceiling, apply pressure down on the counter top by pushing up on the ceilin??!!!. You'd have to also have a long caul board on the ceiling so that it spanned the rafters. I would use an epoxy in this case since you might not get as much clamping pressure as normal but the epoxy will still give you good strength even with microscopic voids. It was kind of a fun image to think about anyway. Don't pop the roof off!
