: : : Can anybody give me instructions on how to build my own vac : : : veneering system? Here is a web site for you to check. Good instructions for building up own system. "chris@scrollsander.com/Soaring-Vac.htm" You will need to type in address bar just as is shown. The capital "S" and "V" must be just as shown.I built my system along the lines Chris lays out. Mine consists of a 1/10 H.P. Gast rotary vane type vac. pump, a reservior, a vacuum switch, a check valve (from acquarium supply store). The pump will reach 22 in. Hg. vacuum. But, I have the vacuum switch set to cycle 21-18 in. Hg. vacuum. Recovery time takes about 1 minute and, with no bag leaks, will hold for about 10 minutes. Have about $70 invested in the system. Bought the pump used for $20 and I made the reservior from 6" PVC and end-caps. Above cost includes 20 mil vinyl for a large bag. Check out the site.BILLY B.

Dear John,There are a couple of way you can go. You can get just a vacuum pump, filter, hose and bag. With this you let it run the entire time you are pressing. For an auto cycling system you will need to add a vacuum switch, back check valve and gauge. This way the system will cycle on and off automatically as the vacuum level drops. A diaphram pump is better and quieter for continuous running and a rotary vane pump is the choice for auto cycling systems. You may want to consider a pre-made system, save you the hassle and you have a number to call if something goes wrong.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Can anybody give me instructions on how to build my own vac : veneering system?
