Tony,Satinwood is really no special problem. You should be using a urea resin glue like Unibond 800 on the mahogany crotch anyway which will work fine on the satin wood. If you are using Unibond make sure you use the dark catalyst or tint the glue so the crotch area of the mahogany matches the glue color as this area has a lot of small open pores which will fill up with glue.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I'm working on a small occaisional table with a veneered top. The current plan is a field of crotch mahogany bound by a small : inlay strip and then a banding of satinwood. I'm going to try your suggestion of taping it all together before I glue. The : substrate is mdf and I'll wrap a solid piece of mahogany around it. I also bought some "bcker" mahogany for the bottom. : OK, my question is about satinwood. First ttime I've ever seen any. It appears to have a "glittery" substance on the : surface. : Is there anything special I need to do when using this veneer? It feels like it may be resinous? Thanks for the help. THis is : going to be a real challenge for me to get all this taped and glued. My previous panels were floating in frames and had one : piece on veneer, so they weren't real complicated. I'm nervous about this one! Anyway, thanks again. : Tony
