I have finished pressing the mahogany door panels. They are crotch sapele on the face with regular sapele on the back. The cross banding is the same regular cut sapele. The crotch face is about twice as thick as the backer. after pressing and letting stand for four days, they have developed a slight concave warp. I am assuming this is because the face is thicker.
Do you all think another lamination of regular cut sapele on the back side to even out the thickness difference would help eliminate the warp?
The core is 1/4" mdf.
The warp is about 1/16" and there is no twist.
Joe

try this first.....

Span your panel across two boards about 12 inches of the surface, take a cookie sheet and put about 1/4 inch of water in it and slide it under the panel, the evaporation of the water will re-introduce moisture back into the panel and flatten it back out, once flat, weight it down for a day.

Which side of the panel Craig? I assume the crotch side, since that is the side that the ends pulled up?

correct, make sure than what that the blocks you use are at the very end of the panel, expose as much of the panel as possible to the pan underneath.

If the warp increases, reverse the process.
