Will the addition of pva glue with the gf 20 effect the adhesion when gluing up with ultra cat ppr glue, or is it better to leave the glue out.

Thanks
Joe

Joe,

No it will not. The more important thing is to make sure the veneer is good and dry after flattening it before you glue it.

Thanks Darryl,

Does the glue just extend the time the veneer will stay flat?
Another question, if I am gluing crotch mahogany to MDF or plywood, should I cross band the front and back.

The project requires a crotch panel in a framed cabinet door. I was going to use 1/4" mdf and aplly mahogany cross banding and then the crotch on the face and two layres to balance the back side.

Joe,

The addition of glue definitely helps to keep the veneer flatter, longer.

Mahogany crotch is one of the few veneers where a cross band veneer is often used, even on MDF. I would recommend doing so.
