Jay,

There are two kinds of seam problems with vinyl bags. One, the two sheets come delaminated at the heat weld. Two, the vinyl tears at the inside edge of the heat weld, this is the more common problem. Seam delamination, where the seam actually comes un-welded is very rare.

Which one of these do you have?

No 2. It tore at the seam. At the end of the bag where the nipple is. Should I just cut off the 6" and install a new nipple ?

Jay,

So, here is what you want to do. Lay the bag out so the side with the tear is facing up. Cut a patch from a piece of vinyl about 2" wide by a couple of inches longer than the tear. Wipe both the torn area and patch with acetone. Brush the patch kit adhesive, hopefully you still have some of this that came with your bag, on to the patch. Lay the patch flush with the outside edge of the bag over the tear, place a piece of plywood on top of the patch and put a weight on top of the plywood. Let this sit overnight and you should be as good as new the next day.
