Subject : Is anyone veneering .125 maple on drop top guitars?

I have just ordered a 6 CFM vacuum press and a 30mil. 46" by 46" poly bag to glue .125" caps over tops with lower bout contour on strat and tele guitar bodies.
I have a few questions for anyone who may be building in this style.

At .125" is anyone bending with or without relieving glue side of veneer.
At .125" is anyone vacuuming cold with no moisture or steam added to wood.
I am planning on using aliphatic resin glue but wonder about cold creep.
Is anyone using urea glue instead or any other glue for that matter.

Thanks for your time and information.

Mike, have you posed this question on the OLF of MIMF forum? I can't imagine you can bend it without one of the several standard methods, hot pipe, fox bender or steam. However you could make a 3 or 4 ply of regular veneer, without heat. What is your motive for .125 thickness.

Mike:
Certainly Wood also sells come veneers in 1/16" thickness. Other suppliers probably also have some thicker veneers. In theory you'd want to alternate grain direction with multiple sheets of veneer but with a rigid glue you might not have a problem. If you make some trial runs please let us know the results.

Mike
I will be making my first laminated sides for an steel string accustic in the new year. a 3 ply with alternating grain in the center totaling to a thickness of .085 or so. I bought 1/16" fir, maple , & walnut for my center core which will be thicknessed in my case to .055. I anticipate that I may half to use the pipe to bend the inner core. If it turns out to break or not bend easily then I may go with a 4 ply with the 2 inner plys of 1/40, going cross grain & should bend cold easliy. I am also going to use a female mold in the bag so the show veneer is against the mold.
