Has any one ever put veneer onto metal. We are wanting to start veneering metal drawer fronts and pedestals. If any one has advive on this I would appreciate it. Thanks

Nate,

You can definitely veneer to metal, its just a matter of the correct glue and surface prep. The two glues that will do the job are epoxy and polyurethane. A course sanding of the metal and wiping with alcohol will prep the metal for good adhesion.

I've heard of veneering aluminum, but not iron or steel. Some woods (oak, sometimes cherry) will develop black spots when exposed to tap water (usually has iron oxide in the water), and I wonder if veneering them to iron or steel would also produce black spots. Some experimentation might be worthwhile.
