I layed out some plain maple veneer on plywood. I just layed some craft paper over it with scrap sheet rock scattered over it.
Going to use this for column work, I wasn't to worried about it curling as I am going to make 2 ply out of all of it.

Well my cat has been peeing on this, looks like for a long time. I haven't peeled the paper off yet, as I don't want to kick him into the neighbors yard.

Can this veneer be cleaned, or am going to have to cut the damage off?
Anybody want an old orange garfield cat?

Personally, the thought of working with pee soaked veneer doesn't do much for me.

You're using plain maple, right? My thoughts are that that's a pretty cheap veneer...just cut off the damaged stuff and replace it.

If it were exotic and expensive, I'd perhaps consider putting it in the sink and trying the sink sprayer, or using some kind of cleaner.

The problem is, it is alot of veneer. 12 large sheets 200 - 300 square feet, so I do have some money wrapped up in it.

Mike. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but cat urine is one hardest to remove contaminants around. It soaks deeply into the wood. Even if the outer stain is rermoved the oder will remain and be activated by moisture or high humidity. Considering how suseptable maple is to moisture the veneer would be ruined before you achieve much success in removing the soaked in urine.
And remember that cats always go back to that spot as long as it has even the slightest odor.

Very bad cat
