If I understand, you want to make a veneer "plywood" that is then trimmed to 4" squares, and then glued onto solid walnut? If this is true, I'd suggest trying a slightly different procedure. First, make up a 3 ply veneer lamination using perhaps quartered walnut veneer, alternating the grain direction so the grain of the center veneer is perpendicular to the grain of the two outer veneers. An odd numbered lamination, using alternating grain direction, hopefully will stay flat. After this has been pressed and allowed to further cure overnight, you might have to run through a wide belt sander to make perfectly flat. Then press the layer of burl onto this 3 piece lamination. Once urea formaldehyde glue is cured, it is very rigid, so adding the additional layer of burl should not curl the dried 3 layer lamination.
Pressing all four layers at the same time is likely to produce a curved result because of the even number of layers. It would seem likely that after the glue cures the sandwich would not flatten out from its 1/8" curl.
