What is the best way to cut bending plywood safely and accurately? I have tried to cut it on the table saw, but the convexity or concavity of the bending ply scares me a bit if I pass it through the blade by itself. I have tried covering the ply with a solid board and passing the two through the saw, but the ply does not reliably hug the fence. I can carpet-tape it to a sacrificial board and cut it as a "sandwich," but that seems unnecessarily wasteful of lumber. I can cut it on the band saw, but I'm not likely to have precise eges. I know I must be missing an obvious, simple method. I would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.

Don

Get a helper. It's amazing how us stoic woodworkers refuse to admit we can't do it alone. Get that first cut made, rip or crosscut, and the piece becomes more managable. You could also lay it on some 2x4's, rough cut it with a skillsaw a bit oversize and then use the factory edge to get it right on the tablesaw. A temporary infeed table would also be helpful.
BE SAFE!

Tape it down to a sacrificial board, and then run a circular saw over it using an edge guide. The Festool circular saw and edge guide would make this job a breeze. If you don't want to sacrifice a board, buy some foam board used for insulating, and cut it on that.

The complication with cutting bending ply happens when you try to bring the flimsy material to a stationary tool. Instead, bring a portable tool to the stationary material.

Thanks for the help. I combined suggestions and jointed the bending ply by taping it to a piece of plywood and running it through the table saw. I then cut the individual segments for the form and for the curved apron using a sacrificial piece of MDF taped to the bending ply. I now have the apron veneered with two-ply veneer on each side, and my demilune table is well on the way. Thanks again.
