I am vacumm bagging some very dark walnut burl with a few small voids and holes scattered about. Do you suggest adding mixed water based anniline dye to the resin, or some powdered anniline dye to the catalyst? Or any other combination?

Ron,
I once used an aniline dye to color the unibond.
It worked well except I put the powder right into
the mixture and I could'nt get it dissolved all
the way. I would dissolve the powder in a little
water first and then mix it with the unibond.

Ron,

What Wade said is a good way to go, just be sure to keep the water to an absolute minimum. You dont want to dilute the glue with water. Basically make your water/analine dye like a slurry, this will keep the water quantity low.

The other option is to mike the powdered dye directly into the unmixed resin and let it sit for 15 minutes or so, sturring every so often. This way it will slowly disolve in without the concern of the glue catalyzing. Then add the catalyst. The down side to this method is you dont get to see your true color until after you add the catalyst.

Sincerely
