Subject : Unibond 800 expiration date

Hi - I've had an unopened box of Unibond 800 for about 2 years. The instructions say that its shelf life is between 3-12 months depending on storage temperature.

Should I just assume this stuff is old or is there a way I can tell if it will fail or not (short of pressing with it).

I actually read an earlier thread that answers this question, but it creates a new question.

Deciding if the catalyst is too thick is a bit subjective, so if I'm wrong and use it anyway, will the glue actually fail or is it just inconvient to work with?

The rule about Unibond 800's, for those that may not have read the other post that addresses it,goes like this,when Unibond is the consistency of cold honey in the fridge instead of maple syrup the shelf life is up. The way I look at it is this, if you are unsure then consider it expired. If you use it you may be OK but the bond and penetration decrease as it thickens on itself. Remember, the cooler you store it the longer the shelf life.

I've been away from veneering for a year and left 2/3 of a gallon of Unibond in the refrigerator for that year. Brought it out yesterday and it seems to flow nicely and mixed well. As far as I can tell at this point, the refrigeration did the trick.
