I have a pc that has Padauk and quilted maple side by side. Have sanded very carefully and it looked great until finish hit it. Orange tint in maple!!! Is there a way to avoid this???

I've had that happen as well...

put down a sealer coat first...my preference is a light wiping of shellac.

others might have some better methods, but this has worked for me.

Sanding padouk and maple INDIVIDUALLY and gradually (120-150-or-180-220-320-400-600) If lower grits not necessary, start at 180 or 220 move up to 600. If you can't do both woods, at least sand the maple parts. Burnished surface of padouk will less likely bleed and burnished surface of maple which already has closed pore structure, will not catch and hold any padouk dust. It also tremendously helpful to blow padouk with air gun in between the grit changes while sanding.

Take Care Brian.
Chico...
