I'm about to glue maple burl and all I have is medium catalyst. Am I safe or should I wait to get (light). I also have west system which I could use in a pinch, just don't want a lot of bleed. Thanks!

Dean,

You'll be fine with the medium catalyst. The color of the glue is mainly an issue on open grained woods because the glue fills up the grain holes and leaves a very small dot the color of the glue. If you use medium catalyst on lets say walnut veneer all the grain holes filled with glue will show up as these lighter dots. On maple this will not be an issue, and even if it does have some holes that might get filled with the medium catalyst, lighter veneer with darker catalyst doesnt jump out at you like darker veneer with lighter catalyst.

Sincerely
Darryl Keil

Dean,

Analine dye works fine as long as its alcohol or water soluble.
