Dear Joe,No, Im saying, for veneering both sides, its 2 cauls, 1 platen and 2 veneers. Another way to look at it is, starting from the bottom, its a platen with the grooves facing up, a caul, veneer, substrate, veneer, and caul. You need the platen to have the grooves on the veneer side tomake sure there is good air evacuation around the panel. Having the grooves on the other sidemay trap some of the air. You can also give me a call, (not a caul) at 207-725-0935 if you want to discuss it further.SincerelyDarryl Keil: So what you are saying is that when you do a panel, inside the bag is 2 cauls, 2 platens, 2 veneers, and a substrate?: Is there anything wrong with just using 3/4" MDF with plastic laminate on one side and grooves on the other as a combination caul/platen?: : Thanks for your help.
