Dear Joe,I dont recommend masonite as a veneering substrate. It is my understanding that masonites have some form of oil in them that do not allow glue to bond properly, especiallyon tempered masonite. I prefer to use 1/4" mdf which takes glue fine. In general I dont like1/4" plywoods, I have noticed most of them are a bit rippled and can have voids and defects.I tried masonite once, found my veneer did not bond properly and have never used it since.SincerelyDarryl Keil: In terms of the quality of the finished product, is 1/4" masonite any : different than 1/4" plywood for use as a veneer substrate? (aside : from the slight difference in actual thickness.: Thanks !
