I've done a good bit of veneer work, and like so many others my main difficulty is in jointing the veneers before taping. I've tried many techniques, but I end up going back to the router method. That method works nicely except that I find that I have to keep the stack of veneers pressed tightly between mdf cauls, and that means a clamp every 10 inches or so. Then I have to go back, move each clamp and rout between. Has anyone found a better way yet? Thanks!

Dear Richard,Try gluing a 2x6 beam on edge to the top and bottom MDF cauls just beyond where the router base rides. If you joint a bow into both beams you can clamp at the ends and it will put good pressure in the middle. You can also pick up a few really deep reaching deep throat clamps and clamp them on from the back side where they wont get in the way of the router. This will work on all but really wide veneer.SincerelyDarryl Keil : I've done a good bit of veneer work, and like so many others my main : difficulty is in jointing the veneers before taping. I did modify it for simpler/faster use:1- one end has a hole w/ a pin (such as a machine bolt) through both pieces to quickly line up the press when making adjustments at the edge.2- I use a "vice-grip" type ofc-clamp to quickly clamp/unclamp at this end between routing.
