I need to press 6 each 2' X 2' flat panels veneered on both sides. The question is can I press them all in a stack at once with cauls on the top and bottom and with a 10 mil sheet of vinyl between each panel? I'm concerned about how the pressure divides. If it divides by the number of interfaces (> than 12) I won't have enough pressure on each face to ensure a good bond. Unibond 800 will be the glue. I have a vacuum press from Vacupress that will reach about 24" Hg at this altitude. How would you do this? Thanks,Dave

Dear Dave,The pressure will transfer through the panels fine but I would suggest two stacks of 3 each. I would also suggest a rigid material between the panels like 1/8" masonite rather than just the 10mil vinyl. Be aware that although Unibond 800 has a long open time its still best to get your panels under pressure fairly quickly so the veneer is not sitting in the glue too long. The more panels you have the longer that first panel is sitting in the glue.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I need to press 6 each 2' X 2' flat panels veneered on both sides. : The question is can I press them all in a stack at once with cauls on : the top and bottom and with a 10 mil sheet of vinyl between each : panel? Dear Kim,Yes, I got your book, looks really good, thanks much for sending me a copy. I hope it does well for you.I put something rigid between panels that I am stacking because every once in a while I would find the veneer wrinkling a bit between panels that did not have a rigid separator. I think the veneer on one side is softened enough by the glue to permit the opposite veneer to wrinkle a little. Im not sure it is always needed since some veneers are less wrinkle prone that others but since I have used 1/8" material between panels it has never happened again.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Hi Darryl,: How you doing?
