I've pressed curved drawer fronts to be veneered. Now need to cut the grooves in the back to accept the plywood bottom. How do I do that ????? Should I have done it while the bending ply was flat ? But would the pressure in the press have collapsed the groove ? Help !!!

I just went through that. I used the router base on my dremel mototool. I got perfect results.

Kell, This can easily be done using a spline cutter with a bottom bearing in your router mounted on a router table. You'll have to run the draw front on the bottom edge in order to do this. You may also have to clean up the ends with a chisle. But, in the future, if you want to rout the groove first, you can do so without danger of the groove collapsing. This should do the trick, John.

A bit off topic, but has anyone ever made the whole draw front and sides from bending ply, the carcase might have to be changed to fit the draw shape but I wonder if it has been done?
