Subject : honeycomb core for torsion box tabletop?

Hello,I am planning to build a table approx 32 inches by 60 inches that I will surface the ceramic tile with hardwood around the table edges. I am coming to the conclusion that it would be best to construct the basic tabletop with a torsion box construction for strength to minimize deflection. The table will be supported near the corners by tubular steel legs. Would your 1" honeycomb product between two 1/2 sheets of plywood be adequate in your experience? Should I use thicker (or thinner) plywood or double-up the honeycomb to 2"? I believe that your honeycomb product will work for me but I want to have the best chance at first pass success. Thanks in advance.--Mark

Mark,The 1" honeycomb will work fine as you outlined. I would proceed as is, no changes needed.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Hello,: I am planning to build a table approx 32 inches by 60 inches that I will surface the ceramic tile with hardwood around the : table edges. As Darryl pointed out, first laminate the honeycomb and plywood layers, at HALF PRESSURE, then after that, put on the veneer. I have the small pump, with no adjustment, so I loosend the cover off the filter to cause a slight leak, which lowered the pressure. I tested it at full pressure, and honeycomb resin at full pressure looks like a cracker in thre minutes. The Unibond rolled on was perfect.
