Can you tell me a good online source for purchasing veneer. And, I'm just getting into veneering, got your vacu-press. Are there certain woods that are easier to work with when veneering? If yes which are easy and which should I stay away from for now? Thanks

Try ebay, under "veneer". You can't always get a sense of what you're buying, and there's no one-on-one personal interaction, but the veneers are in general very inexpensive, $0.25-1.00 a square foot. I've been buying small lots of various veneers and experimenting with them. It's a great way to get started. Once you know what you want, you can go to the premium dealers like Certainlywood.

Edward,Here are two veneer web sites, certainlywood.com and flamingoveneer.com. Personally I suggest a live person when it comes to purchasing veneer, I want to be clear about what I am getting. Look over their web sites then give them a call once you have narrowed it down.Mahogany, cherry, walnut are all great veneers to get started with as well as many others. What I suggest to stay away from when you are getting your feet wet are delicate and fragile veneers such as burls and crotches. Also ones that tend to chip and tear when you cut them, like rosewood, ebony, lacewood, and wenge. There are many more in this group. Some veneers are wrinkle prone, like birsdeye maple, save that one until youve had a little experience. You can always try them all and learn as you go, nothing wrong with that either.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Can you tell me a good online source for purchasing veneer.
