Bill,If you do this construction I think you would be ok. Do a double layer of honeycomb. It looks like this, two layers of 3/4" honeycomb with 1/8" ply between them and 1/4" skins on both sides. I plan to use honeycomb with 6mm vc plywood skins. I would like to keep the total thickness to 1 1/2 inches or less.
