Ninjakat,Yes, the one to get that would apply to your project is "Working in a Vacuum". The specific part that would help is about wrapping a cylinder, a little different shape but the same basic concept. A phone conversation about it might be a good idea as well. Feel free to call me anytime.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Thanks Darryl! I am considering getting a vacuum press. Do any of the videos that you sell show how to set up and perform this type of wrap around veneering? : : Ninjakat,: : A vacuum press will allow you to use a regular wood glue and achieve : : a superior bond. If you dont have one and dont plan on getting one : : you will have to use contact cement or the iron on technique, neither : : one I am particularly fond of but are doable without a press. If you : : are not going to use a vacuum press I strongly suggest using paper : : backed veneer for better results.: : Your return seam will be fairly easy with contact cement. Overlap the : : joint and cut through both layers. The iron on technique will not : : yield a very good seam.: : Sincerely: : Darryl Keil: : : : I am planning build a set of speaker cabinets and want to wrap 1 : : : piece of veneer around the front, sides, and back. The vertical : : : edges will be radiused to either 1/2" or 3/4" and the veneer seam : : : will be at the back. I have done some simple flat veneering, but : : am : : : unsure as to how to go about doing this particular project and : : would : : : appreciate any tips. Will I need a vacuum clamping system, what : : kind : : : of glue, how di I cut/align the seam, etc?: : : Thanks!
