Subject : Recommendations on glue and conditioning veneer

I am attempting to veneer an aluminum extrusion with mohagany veneer. The extrusion has a curved top profile and then a very tight radius on the returns. 2 questions, what glue would you recommend and what technique would you recommend to prevent checking and cracking on the radius.

:Darryl,don't have drawings but the diameter of the radius edges appears to be about 3/16". The grain will need to run parallel with the radius.thanks,Jeff

Jeff,I would use polyurethane glue, apply it to the extrusion. When you get the veneer in place lightly wet the area where veneer goes over the radius with water.I first suggest a test with the water but not the glue just to get a feel for the process.SincerelyDarryl Keil: :Darryl,: don't have drawings but the diameter of the radius edges appears to be about 3/16".
