Paul
I need more specifics to understand your question.
Do you mean a round door? Are you veneering the door itself?

These are kitchen doors made from HMR MDF, with the virticle sides rounded over so that the veneer can rap over the face and sides. I have had problems withe the veneer cracking as it goes around the edge. (is my radius too tight? its six mm. or qarter inch.)

Paul,

You really need a vacuum press to do your doors unless your real good at hammer veneering. Assuming you have one, the process goes like this. Mask off the radiused edge of the door about 1/4" onto the flat face. Roll the glue on the door, front and back side. Remove the masking tape and press the door with the radiused edges face down, cauls both sides. This way the extra veneer that will wrap around the edges in the second pressing can lay on the platen without getting damaged. Once the faces are pressed, brush glue on the radiused edges making sure you get glue into the point where the first glue line ends. Sometimes I use compressed air to drive the glue to that area. Raise the door up an inch or two so the bag can put good pressure on the edges. Wet the area where the veneer goes over the radius to prevent cracking, just lightly, not too much water or you will weaken the glue joint.

Thats the process.

Sincerely
Darryl Keil
