Mike,Yes, I get what you are saying now. It will be fine to apply the glue just to the drum. Your drum is not an highly absorbent material like MDF so you will be fine gluing only the substrate. Not all paperbacks need to be rolled on both surface. Only some that dont absorb glue all that well.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Darryl,: If I put glue 3/4 around the drum, and I glue the 2 ply veneer, the 2 glue lines will not match. Glue line on the drum will stop where I place masking tape for a straight line guide. It would be hard to exactly stop the glue line on the veneer to match. Does this make since, sometimes it is hard to decribe what a simple mind thinks[mine being the simmple mind}! I was thinking about applying glue to just the drum, and was wondering if this would be Ok. Thanks, Mike: : : Mike,: : This sentence (If I glue both pieces how am I going to match the glue lines on the second step) is not clear to me. Can you reword this so I can understand your question.: : Sincerely: : Darryl Keil: : : I have finished flettening all the tamo. I am going to 2 ply the tamo : : : to paper backed maple, gluing the veneer side of the paper backed : : : sheet. I have read in other posts that you need to glue both the : : : paper back and the substrate to make a good bond. I am going to glue : : : this to a cylinder{drum} in 2 steps. If I glue both pieces how am I : : : going to match the glue lines on the second step. Since this is a 2 : : : ply will it be ok to just glue the substrate?
