Hello Folks,I have recently played around with a bending MDF that comes in 3/8" and 1/4" thickness, comes bendable the long way and short way. The back is kerf cut to make the material flexible. There are qualities I really like about this product. First, I like the MDF surfaceto veneer on, much better that the 3/8" bending ply. Second, you can pre-veneer the surface before bending it into its final shape. This allows for sanding in the flat ahead of time. Also, the surface is very uniform and does not show any faceting until very tightradiuses are attempted. Standard bending plys stiffen up as soon as you veneer one side making them virtually unbendable. This is not the case with this product. It does do it a little bit but not enough to stop me from veneer it ahead of time. The only real down side to this material is you have kerfs to deal with after its formed into shape. If the curved panel is a door I consider this somewhat of a hassle working with the edges. If its a panel that will be framed or incorporated into a cabinet I woulddefinitely use it. In any case I wanted to let folks know about it. Its something to add to one’s choices for bending materials. The product is called Econokore and made by the folks that make kerfcore(not a suitable veneering product) It is carried nationally by Interior Products Ph# 800-637-3539. They claim that many plywood distributors carry it. Give them a call for a supplier near you. I dont know what local suppliers sell it for but Interior Products said that 1/4" sells for $30 something a sheet and the 3/8" sells for $40 something. A little more that I would havethought but its still a great product.SincerelyDarryl Keil
