I am getting ready to apply paperback burl to a 1/4 inch birch plywood substrate.(Vacupress 5cfm) After complete they will be enclosed in a frame used for a King size headboard. Is it necessary to veneer both sides if it will be encased in a frame?

Joey,It isnt a must to veneer both sides as your frame will hold the panel flat around the edges. The 1/4" will definately bow if you press only one side. If the panels are large the bow may be noticeable, if they are small it may not show much. Its a visual thing not a functional one.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I am getting ready to apply paperback burl to a 1/4 inch birch : plywood substrate.(Vacupress 5cfm) After complete they will be : enclosed in a frame used for a King size headboard. The panel size will be 22" x 33", will this be a problem?: Joey,: It isnt a must to veneer both sides as your frame will hold the panel flat around the edges. Joey,At that size I would veneer both sides. Like I said, it wont be a problem functionally because its in a frame but visually I wouldnt like it.SincerelyDarryl Keil: The panel size will be 22" x 33", will this be a problem?: : : Joey,: : It isnt a must to veneer both sides as your frame will hold the panel flat around the edges.
