I've never done any veneering before and I've just ordered a frame and pump. I have a macassar ebony display case to build 118" wide x 96" high. The stiles and rails are 8" wide.
What is the best material to use? (i.e. - p.b., 10mil paper, 20mil paper)

What is the best way to veneer the face of the frames, oversize the frame with veneer and then cut it to width or oversize veneer and trim it?

Best way to veneer the edges of the frames (13/16" thick)? I don't think I have enough room in the frame I've ordered to stand the stiles and rails on edge to press in the frame.

I'll be using an engineered wood veneer from Richelieu. What is the best glue to use?

I've not worked with engineered veneer or paperback, so can't advise on using those products. For the adhesive, I'd give strong consideration to the recommendation of the veneer product, but not contact cement.

If you've not worked with vacuum veneering I'd strongly suggest either Darryl Keil's videos "Working with Veneer" and "Working in a Vacuum;" or his book, for starters. Paul Schurch's first video "Decorative Veneering" is also very helpful. There is some overlap with Darryl's videos but Paul's covers some material not covered by Darryl. His presentation of some of the veneering tools is excellent.

Get a first piece of your intended veneer and make some prototypes of your display case pieces to get some experience with the tools, the adhesive, and the veneer and how it handles.

What will be your substrate, and how will you be joining the various pieces of the display case?

Thanks for the advice!

I'll get a copy of Darryl Keil's book.

I've been planning on using maple wood for the substrate for the face frames and 3/4" maple plywood for the case parts. I usually pocket hole case parts to my face frames and the same for the face frame parts but the designer wants the face frames to be mitered so I'm still undecided what would be the best on that.
