A wheelchair ramp's surface is two sided MDO (medium density overlay) plywood. It extends over a step from the door sill to a brick walk. I chamfered the end of the plywood slightly at the brick walk, but there is some concern that the end may be a trip hazard.

As a short term solution I tapered a 4" wide piece of rift red oak (what I had on hand) from 3/4" thick to 1/16" at the other edge. Red oak is not as weather tolerant as white oak, but I'm more concerned that it may split before it rots.

Aluminum and other metals is not an option because of the likely marking of the bricks. As a long term solution I've wondered about essentially making 3/4" white oak plywood by using urea formaldehyde glue on layers of 1/16" rift white oak with alternating grain directions.

Does this sound reasonable? Thanks.

I would not count on the MDF and plywood lasting very long.

White oak is a tough substance but it doesn't hold up anywhere near as well as marine plywood.

It's important to put treated two by fours or two by sixes every 16 inches length-wise with the plywood to support it. Plywood and MDF does not have much lateral tensile/compression strength.

Apply a couple of good quality waterproof coats on the wood after the marine ply has seasoned for a couple weeks and is dry.

As for the aluminum edge I would put a strip of rubber underneath it to protect the brick.

The support structure underneath is treated 2 x material running lengthwise with cross bracing. The surface is not MDF but two sided MDO plywood, traditionally exterior sign board. The original lasted I think 3 years. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to see if marine plywood is available in Cincinnati.
